my first ramble

hello everybody
this blog has been set up for you guys to follow my happenings when i'm in italy next year and also as long after that as i keep it up. at the moment i have nothing in particular to say. i guess i will say that i got an OP3 which i am very happy with. i decided to wait for the post instead of checking it on the qsa website and so i got a lot of phonecalls on the weekend from rellies and stuff wanting to know what i got when i didn't yet know. and strangely enough tonight i got none......go figure.
so lately i've just been working a lot, earning my spending money and also saving for an ipod to take with me to italia. have also been emailing some of my overseas freinds....hello dear alicia and sage. and of course reading. at the moment i'm reading 'little women' which i love. it's sad tho cos beth is going to die and they don't know it. and i hate it when jo rejects laurie. she should marry laurie because then he turns all smarmy and sleazy and marries amy who has turned into a right snob. plus laurie is just heaps better than the writer guy she gets with in the end. mansfield park is much better cos she ends up with the right guy. oh edmund. gotta love edmund.
well as this blog is set up for my trip to italy i guess i should talk about some of my preparation. well.....there hasn't been a lot. so far i've been to an orientation day in brisbane which was good. met some cool people, and got some information, as well as a cool phone card thing which is good. and a nice bag and shirt and stuff which was also good. v good. and since then i've been emailing my returned student advisor a little and generally just doing some reading on italy. mum bought me an 'idiot's guide to learning italian' which has been a lot more helpful than the computer program i was tryign to learn off. it's actually been very helpful and is full of useful hints and stuff about the language that the computer program didn't have, altho it's good to have if only for pronounciation and stuff. also robert, a fellow i met in brissie at the exchange orientation day who is also going to italy, has been trying to teach me a little over msn. has been mildy successfull. will keep trying with that one. other than that, i've been doing lots of thinking about packing, and have done a little shopping. have lined up josie's mum to make me a nice jacket to take, but i'll probably have to try to get a really warm one over there as well. not sure i'm looking foward to the cold weather. i guess it'll be a change from sunny, sweaty poon town.
anyway, mum is telling me that it's late and i should go to bed so i think i will.
will write more soon
love always
ellen
